As a school, we care about our children’s physical health and mental health equally and we will do everything to help your child adapt in the school and gain the skills necessary for the next stages of his/her life.
A mentally healthy child is a child can function well at home and school and has good social skills. If a child is suffering problems, it will affect their daily learning skills and their behaviour which in return will cause disruption to their development. Mental health problems could be anxiety, depression or a type of behavioural problem and often these problems occur as a result to what is happening in that child’s life.
There are certain factors that help maintain a child’s mental health such as a balanced diet, regular exercise, having time to play, being part of a family, feeling loved and safe.
Other factors affect children’s mental health negatively. Some children feel anxious about going to school for the first time or changing into a new school. In addition, any traumatic event that the child has gone through might be the reason behind his mental health deteriorating. Moreover, moving from home or the birth of a new sibling might be the reason behind your child’s change in behaviour.
As a school, we have a four-dimensional approach to teaching-learning and it focuses on:
- Cognitive skills (Academics – Art and Culture – Technology – Sports)
- Attitude (Knowledge, Open-mindedness – Risk taking – innovation)
- Social skills (Empathy – Tolerance – Collaboration – Reflection)
- Sustainability (Inclusion – Responsibility – Independence – Environment)
There four approaches to teaching and learning help us bring out the best in every child so that they are future-ready global citizens.
We have also got a 5-code security model which focuses on the children’s emotional and physical security as well as digital, visual and data security.
By having the four-dimensional approach and the 5-code security model, we can assure that we are very attentive to our children’s behaviour and social skills and their adaptation in the school and we can assure that our teaching staff is ready to help the children in any way that they can.
